习近平在庆祝祖国70周年盛典上说，在中国向前发展的进程中，必须坚持“和平统一”的原则和“一国两制”（uphold the principles of 'peaceful reunification' and 'one country, two systems'），保持香港、澳门持久的繁荣与稳定（maintain lasting prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao），促进两岸关系和平发展（promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations），团结所有的中华儿女，继续争取祖国的完全统一。（unite all Chinese sons and daughters, and continue to strive for the motherland's complete reunification）
习近平主席呼吁为实现“两个一百年”奋斗目标、实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦（achieve the two centenary goals and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation）而共同努力。中国的昨天已经被铭刻在人类历史上，而中国的今天正在亿万中国人的手中被创造出来，中国的明天一定会更加美好。（China's yesterday had been inscribed in human history while China's today is being created in the hands of hundreds of millions of Chinese people, China will surely have an even brighter future）所有党员，武装部队和各族人民应该更紧密地团结在一起，保持初心，（stay true to the founding mission）继往开来，（build on existing achievements）继续推动中华人民共和国向前发展。继续努力，（continued efforts should be made）实现两个一百年奋斗目标和民族复兴（national rejuvenation）的使命。
